A Brief History of the CheckPoint Sensor Technology

The CheckPoint system had its start in 2002 as a temperature system for the foodservice industry using off-the-shelf wireless sensors and our own custom software. We quickly realized the opportunity for a more advanced temperature monitor system, one that would require creative thinking and take advantage of some advanced engineering necessary to overcome the limitations of existing technology.

In 2004, our engineering team began the development of the CheckPoint G2 sensor system. We incorporated two-way communication and onboard memory so that each sensor would individually retain data and prevent data loss during a network interruption, computer failure or other catastrophe. Numerous reporting features and non-temperature measurement values were added at the request of our customers, and we dramatically expanded the software to include self-diagnostic capabilities and optimizations for the sophisticated capabilities of the G2 system.

In January 2006, the first G2 system was installed at the new Genentech biotech facility in Vacaville, CA. It featured:

  1. Two-way communication to ensure safe data transmission
  2. Frequency hopping to minimize interference
  3. Data logging memory capacity
  4. Splash-proof housing
  5. Locking probe connectors
  6. Combination repeaters/access points capability

Today, we continue to enhance the CheckPoint system and software to respond to the demands of our clients and the changing needs of the healthcare industry. For instance, after working with the FDA Laboratories to help with their own ISO 17025 certification, we incorporated all the new features into our standard software to benefit every customer facing regulatory and audit requirements, including CFR 21 Part 11. These and many other features make CheckPoint the most robust and reliable system available.

In January 2008 we released an improved G3 system with even more capabilities and increased memory. See our System Overview page or contact us for specific information about how CheckPoint can meet your facility’s needs.
